Ace (ADOPTED!) is a very well balanced dog. We estimate that he is around 3 years old. He is on the thin side and weighs about 53 lbs. His ideal weight may be 55 to 58 lbs. He loves people and receiving human attention, and is extremely very well mannered and calm. As with most cattle dogs, Ace wants to be with his person/people whenever possible. Wherever you are, he will be quietly resting under your desk or table, or under your chair. Ace is very attentive and loving with all people. He is submissive to humans, especially those who show leadership. Ace is very trusting of humans and even if painful has allowed people he barely know to handle him.
With other dogs, he is a leader who keeps the peace. If another dog demonstrates bad dog manners, will put another dog in its place, but he is NOT a bully. Ace gets along fabulously with another 'alpha' cattle dog male, and a well behaved border collie female, where he is being fostered. He came to us already neutered, but when outside he is still territorial and, if other dogs have been in an outside area, he will mark the perimeter of a yard.
We believe he is crate trained, as he will go into one without a fuss, and enjoys being under cave-like covered spaces when resting. He walks BEAUTIFULLY on a leash. Ace is extremely observant and very smart! As a dog who will check-in; with his people on a regular basis, he is very easy to train and manage. We believe he already knows several basic commands. Ace is a medium energy dog, and he is NOT at all interested in playing ball.
He would be fine with another well balanced and/or submissive dog, or as an only dog. Ace is a highly intelligent, thinking dog, we recommend that he live with a human who understands pack leadership. Everyone in our rescue who has met him, says that whoever adopts him will be a very lucky person.
