ADOPTED!  Mia is a very sweet, gentle girl, who is very easy going.  She weighs 39 lbs. and we believe she is about 2 years old.  She loves people and is a wonderful companion.  She is NOT your typical intense, focused, herding obsessed border collie.  Mia is not high energy, but prefers to hang out, snuggle, and crawl into your lap. She seeks out human attention and affection. She is very polite, patient, and extremely quiet. She is very friendly and playful with other dogs. Click here to see her in action with her foster family dog Honey.
Mia does like to check things out, when she goes someplace new, or out on walks.  In her zeal to sniff and explore new places, she will pull on leash.  We believe Mia is house trained, as she has been sleeping fine indoors without any accidents.  We do not know how she is with cats.  She does pay attention when she sees them outside.  We suspect that with supervision and telling her to leave the cats, she would eventually become used to them.
Although Mia is great with other dogs, she has one single issue with other dogs, and that is her food bowl.  She will growl and chase any dog that approaches her bowl, even if she is done with it.  Mia is fine with people moving her bowl and taking treats away from her.  She is also fine with toys and other dogs, playing and tugging with them.  Because of dog/dog food guarding, Mia may be best as an only dog in a home.  Alternatively, if in a home with another dog (as she is otherwise great with other dogs), the dogs should be fed separately, and the food bowl picked up before allowing them to be together again.
Mia would be an ideal companion in a quiet home, and people who will take her for hikes, exploring, and for long walks.
